AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s basketball senior guard Lior Berman (Birmingham, Ala.) and junior center Dylan Cardwell (Augusta, Ga.) were both honored on the 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Berman, an industrial design major in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, has played in 51 career games including 18 appearances this season for the Tigers. He boasts an impressive 3.83 cumulative grade-point average.

A three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll student and 2021 NABC Honors Court selection, he is shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from behind the 3-point arc, while also averaging the most minutes (8.9) of his four-year career on the Plains.

Berman has turned in recent career games against LSU, Missouri and Vanderbilt. This past summer, he won a gold medal as a member of Team USA at the 2022 Maccabi Games in Israel.

Cardwell, a management major and entrepreneurship minor with a 3.8 GPA in the Harbert College of Business, has played in 26 contests this season earning his first career start versus Texas Southern on Nov. 18. He is currently the team’s third-leading rebounder (4.1 rpg) and second-leading shot blocker (39).

A two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll student, Cardwell was named to the SEC Community Service Team last season for his time off-the-court volunteering in the Auburn community and as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
